Stroup-Bruske - 2010 Inductees Kristie was one of the most prolific all-around student athletes in Stanley County school history. Her list of accomplishments ranges from the classroom to the athletic arenas to a variety of community activities. She won a trophy room full of awards while competing in basketball, gymnastics and track; and her participation in other school activities & volunteer work endeared her to all school personnel and local volunteer groups as well.
Her classroom efforts allowed her to be on the ‘A’ Honor Roll for 4 years, Spanish Honor Society for 3 years, National Honor Society for 2 years and Valedictorian of her graduating class of 1995. Her work ethic, involvement, respect and attitude enabled her to become the recipient of two of her most cherished awards. Tina Stroup-Bruske Tina was the first ‘Lady Buff’ to be selected as an All-State basketball player, and she received that honor two times. She was a 3rd team All-Stater as a junior in 1990, and a 2nd team All-Stater as a senior in 1991. After many years of attending the Hansen & Anderson basketball camps, Tina was chosen to be on the cover of the Hansen/Anderson Basketball book, along with many of the state’s top female players.
Tina set an S.C. ‘Points Per Game’ record with 35 points in one game in 1990 and she then helped to guide the Lady Buffs to their first State Basketball Tournament in 1991. Although the Lady Buffs finished eighth place that year, she played well enough to earn a spot on the All-Tourney team. She was also named to the Big Dakota All-Conference basketball team as a sophomore, junior & senior (1989-91).
Stanley County started volleyball during Tina’s senior year as the result of her and a group of girls petitioning that it be allowed as a second winter sport. She was also very active in track where she qualified for the State Track meet three years in the hurdles. Tina’s other high school activities included All-State Band (91-92), journalism, drama, and stats person for both the football & boys basketball teams.
Tina has acknowledged that her most rewarding recognition is being a mom to son Tristan, born this past September. She was also preceded into the SC Hall of Fame by uncle Ron Hutcheson.
After high school graduation, Tina attended the South Dakota State University earning a degree in HPER/Wellness & Econ minor. Two years later she earned a B.S. Degree in Business/Accounting. She now resides in Sioux Falls with her family.
