Glenn Dozark
1974 – 1998 S.C. Coach/Contributor
Glenn Dozark is being inducted into the
Stanley County Athletic Hall of Fame for his years of coaching
service to Stanley County athletics. Coach Dozark’s coaching career
spanned from 1974 to 1998 and included cross country, track and
football, but his passion was wrestling. During his tenure as S.C. wrestling coach, Dozark’s teams won close to 300 hundred dual matches, as well as many tournament championships throughout the state of South Dakota. His teams also finished in the top 8 at the South Dakota State Wrestling Tournament nine times. Coach Dozark had 68 state place winners, with 15 wrestlers in the finals, resulting in 4 state champions. He was selected as Regional Coach of the Year 3 times, and was nominated several times for South Dakota or National Coach of the Year. He also coached South Dakota teams in national/international competition, as well as being a key figure for 24 years with the S.C. youth wrestling programs. From 1974 to 1981, Coach Dozark had teams place three times at State Cross Country meets……the boys placed 9th in 1974, and with the girls placing 7th in 1977 and 11th in 1978. He was an assistant football coach for the Buffs from 1984 -1992 when S.C. enjoyed three trips to the Dome, winning the championship in 1986. Coach Dozark was also the Head Girls Track Coach for the 1974-75 season and assisted during the girls for the 1975 thru 1977 seasons. |

Jan Mord
Athlete
Jan is the only Stanley County wrestler to go undefeated on his way to winning the State Wrestling Champion title in 1983. He was such a dominant force during the State Wrestling Tournament, that he was selected as the Tournament ‘Most Valuable Wrestler’ in 1983. He participated in the State Wrestling tournament at least three times in high school, placing at the tournament two (2) times - 1st & 6th place finishes. He also wrestled to the championship in at least 10 invitational tournaments during his career at Stanley County. After graduation, Jan went on to wrestle at the collegiate level at South Dakota State University and is now residing in Cedar Falls, Iowa. |
