The Stanley County School District, #57-1, Board of Education met in regular session August 17, 2012, 5:30 P.M., at the Learning Center in the Middle/High School Building with Sarah Carter, Gary Johnson, Tina Titze, and Rick Cronin present. Nicole Prince attended via conference call. Others in attendance were Superintendent Don Hotalling, Business Manager Jessi Fromm, Principals Timothy Hollar, and Michelle Glodt, Visitors were Jennifer Milliken, Shirley Swanson, Scott Sikkink, Scott Schweitzer, and John Duffy President Carter called the meeting to order at 12:15 P.M. President Carter led the Pledge of Allegiance. Titze moved, seconded by Cronin, to adopt the amended agenda as presented. All voted aye. Dr. Hotalling, Scott Sikkink, and Scott Schweitzer discussed the K-5 building project, and the bid process.President Carter discussed the Back To School Breakfast on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 7:15 A.M. This is sponsored by the Board of Education. All staff, kids, and families are encouraged to attend. Dr. Hotalling invited the Board member to the In-service of August 20, 2012 at 8:00 A.M. Titze moved, seconded by Johnson, to approve the Board Policy Manual for the 2012-2013 school year. All voted aye. Johnson moved, seconded by Titze, to approve the 5 year Capital Outlay Plan. All voted aye. Cronin moved, seconded by Titze, to change to October Board Meeting to Tuesday, October 9 at 6 P.M. at the Cheyenne School, due to the Monday holiday. All voted aye. Titze moved, seconded by Cronin, to approve open enrollment application 1037-1052. All voted aye. Mrs. Glodt reported on the Jr. Kindergarten program. There are currently 16 students enrolled. Glodt requested the Board to allow the District to hire an Educational Assistant for this classroom. This person will also assist in the Kindergarten classrooms in the afternoon. Cronin moved, seconded by Titze, to approve the hiring of an Educational Assistant for the Junior Kindergarten classroom. All voted aye. Mrs. Fromm and Carter presented an idea to increase student attendance at sporting activities. They suggested Stanley County School student can obtain free admission on home events excluding and District or Region games. In order for the students to obtain the free admission the must present their student identification card. Cronin moved, seconded by Johnson, to approve the free admission for Stanley County School students grade 6th -12th who present their student identification card. All voted aye. Titze moved, seconded by Cronin, to go to Executive Session according to SDCL 1-25-2 for contract and student purposes at 1:21 P.M. All voted aye. President Carter declared the Board out of Executive Session at 1:56 P.M. All voted aye. Titze
