Special School Board Meeting
April
18, 2011

The Stanley County School District, #57-1, Board of Education met in special session April 18, 2011, 5:30 P.M., in the Middle/High School Learning Center with Sonny Harrowa, Tina Titze, Nicole Prince, John Duffy, and Darby Nutter present.  Others in attendance were Superintendent Don Hotalling, Business Manager Jessi Fromm, Principals Timothy Hollar, and Brian Hartwig, and Special Education Director Krystal Simons.  Visitors were Sue Hotalling, Darla Tibbs, Shirley Swanson, Jennifer Milliken, Dawn Kramme, Anita Wyly, Jay Gillaspie, Tanner Gillaspie, Jody Swanson, Linda Brown, Mary Giddings, Becci Scott, David Larson, Teri Heninger, Lana Chase, Kelly Tibbs, Larry Cronin, Shelly Cowan, Casey Cowan, Byron Hand, Jon Farris, Dean Marzke, Ron Fredrick, Sarah Carter, Becky Nelson, Brad Bies, and Nora Kohlenberg.

 

President Sonny Harrowa called the meeting to order at 5:32 P.M.

 

President Sonny Harrowa led the pledge of allegiance.

 

Nutter moved, seconded by Titze to adopt the agenda.  All voted aye.

 

Sarah Carter, Becky Nelson, Brad Bies, and Nora Kohlenberg Department of Education gave Career and Technical Education presentation, which could replace the District’s Vocational Education Program. Grant opportunities, Ag related careers, Ag Ed teacher certification, how a Career Technical Education program supports the school, and the Ag Ed three-part program: the Classroom / Lab, the Supervised Agriculture Experiences, and Future Farmers of America (FFA) were presented. 

 

Harrowa declared a short recess at 7:15 P.M.

 

Harrowa declared back in session at 7:25 P.M.

 

Dean Marzke with HKG discussed the schedule, plans, and budget for the K-5 building exploration. Mr. Marzke answered questions anyone had.

 

Nutter moved, seconded by Titze to adjourn at 8:10 p.m.
