The Stanley County
School District, #57-1, Board of Education met in special
session December 14, 2006, 12:15 P.M. in the Superintendent’s
Office of the Elementary Building with Sonny Harrowa, Darby
Nutter, Mork Norman, John Duffy and Bridget Miller present.
Others in attendance were Business Manager Kevin Merscheim.
President Sonny Harrowa called the meeting to order at 12:15
P.M.
President Sonny Harrowa led the pledge of allegiance.
Duffy moved, seconded by Nutter, to adopt the agenda as amended.
All voted aye.
Miller moved, seconded by Nutter, to approve the contract for
Brandon Spencer for assistant wrestling coach in the amount of
$1.00 for the 2006-2007 school year. All voted aye.
The Board canvassed the election results of the special election
held on December 14, 2006, for the consolidation of the Stanley
County and Harrold School Districts. The results were as
follows:
136 – For accepting the reorganization plan dissolving the
Stanley
County School District #57-1 and the Harrold School District
#32-1 and creating a new district pursuant to SDCL 13-6.
294 – Against accepting the reorganization plan dissolving the
Stanley County School District #57-1 and the Harrold School
District #32-1 and creating a new district pursuant to
SDCL 13-6.
Sonny Harrowa requested approval from the Board to allow him to
volunteer to help with the Stanley County High School Wrestling
program for the 2006-2007 school year.
Duffy moved, seconded by Norman, to allow Sonny Harrowa to
volunteer to help with the Stanley County High School Wrestling
program as presented. Duffy, Norman, Miller and Nutter voted
aye. Harrowa abstained.
The Board discussed the recent consolidation election results
and suggested a positive image of the school be promoted to
encourage more students to attend the Stanley County Schools.
Norman moved, seconded by Duffy, to adjourn at 12:38 P.M. All
voted aye.
