Amber Diehm - 2016 Hall of Fame
Amber Diehm (‘96) was one of Stanley County’s most dominant female basketball players and was also a standout track and field competitor. Amber’s four year tenure as a starter for the Lady Buffalos basketball team culminated in a career record of 72 wins and 21 losses. In three of her years as a starter, Stanley County made state tournament appearances. Amber also qualified four times for the state track meet.

As a freshman, Amber started for a 15-7 Lady Buffalos basketball team coached by Tom Rogers. She was recognized by selection to the Big Dakota All Conference team after leading the Lady Buffalos in both assists and steals. The year ended with an appearance in the State A basketball tournament. Amber also qualified for the State A track meet in both the high jump and 800M run.

As a sophomore, Amber again led the basketball team in steals and assists. The Lady Buffalos finished with one of the best records in school history (19-5) and a 4th place finish at the State A basketball tournament. Amber was recognized again as a Big Dakota All Conference team selection. Her sophomore athletic campaign ended with qualification to the State A track meet in the long jump and the 400M relay.

As a junior, Amber helped push the girls basketball team to a 22-3 record and another 4th place finish at the State A tournament. She again led the team in steals and assists and was again named to the Big Dakota All Conference team.  She was also selected to the State A all tournament basketball team. She qualified again for the state track meet -- this time in the triple jump.

As expected, Amber’s senior campaign saw her pacing the Lady Buffs basketball team to a 16-6 record. Hers was a uniquely dominant career. For the fourth straight year, she led her team in both assists and steals and was named to the Big Dakota All Conference Team for the fourth straight year. Amber was also recognized as an all state team selection (2nd) in 1996 and participated in the South Dakota All Star Game.
